As someone who’s curious about creative women’s paths in life and work—and how they’ve built up their confidence along the way—I’m excited to start having more live video conversations about these topics on Substack!
I hosted my first live interview with three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and podcast host Aundrea Cline-Thomas this morning. She’s also the CEO of Mountain Court Media, was a TV reporter in local news for 15 years, and writes the NEXT Nuggets Newsletter. I’m so grateful that she joined me today.
I also love being part of Aundrea’s membership community. She brought a group of us members together in-person for the first time at a Manhattan meetup this past Friday, and we all hit it off!

But on a more serious note, chatting about topics like Aundrea’s creative work, her advice for navigating career transitions, and what brings her confidence also felt super personal to me. Writing this lifestyle and pop culture newsletter is a passion project that embodies all three! It’s been such a fun way to boost my confidence and connect with others after being impacted by a mass layoff. There have been ups and downs, and I’m still figuring a lot out, but I’m psyched about the possibilities ahead.
So if you’ve also been laid off and/or are also making a career pivot, I don’t just see you, I am you. We’re in the same boat!
I’ve also daydreamed about getting back to my on-camera roots for a long time, so this is a huge personal milestone. Before my role as an assistant editor at Oprah Daily, I freelanced as a TV reporter in local news from 2019-2020. 📺
I feel so lucky to have had those career experiences—as well as other roles—but I currently feel more Jane than ever. Cheers to putting the power of self-expression into practice! ✨
